Founded in historic downtown Goldthwaite in 1977, the Mills County Historical Museum is committed to telling the story of Mills County, Texas, and seeks an active dialogue with its members in many ways.
So, why become a member of the Mills County Historical Museum?
Because your story counts! The museum's newly initiated Oral History program documents the lives of current residents in recorded interviews that preserve the everyday experiences of Mills County for generations to come.
Because our rich collective history matters! The changing exhibitions drawn from the museum's permanent collection of prehistoric Central Texas fossils and 19th and 20th century Mills County material culture, as well as the museum library and extensive photographic archives, are valuable resources for students, researchers, archaeologists, and historians.
Because the museum is an active member of the Penatuhkah Trails Comanche Partnership, which protects and interprets the traditional lands and resources of the Penatuhkah Band of the Comanche people in Central Texas and promotes heritage tourism in our region.
Because we offer guided tours, children's programs, and special events for our members.
Because membership is not expensive and sustainably supports the voluntary and charitable work of the board!
